And just like that, Blackpaw was clear and they were behind a 2-ton steel baracade on wheels. While that small fact was comforting, it was as quickly dissipated as the bullets speeding by. She realized she hadn't taken the less lethal shotgun. Judy quickly plunged her body into the car, retrieved it, and slammed the car door for an extra layer of protection.

She took off the safety, found a nice spot behind the front wheel of the car, and leveled her weapon on the hood of the car, hiding her body behind the front of the car. But the shots were too heavy for her to get any of her own in. She stayed where she was, patient, as the gunfire left no gaps for her to exchange her own.

The radio blared and Judy missed all of it until she heard her call-sign. She darted her head back towards the car more, listening to the radio. "We are 60 feet directly behind car 3-13 ", then she managed to fire a less-lethal shot gun round in the general direction of an enemy but her hands were shaking too much to be accurate. She swore beneath her breath, re-focused her fingers and mind on the situation.

Judy began to slowly realize with all the shots directed towards them that they would not be driving this car home tonight. And also that they'd drawn the attention of the shooters. But, this was also good as it gave the injured officer behind car 3-13 a little more breathing room.

Just then a shooting pain came from her arm and she ducked down, taking her less-lethal rifle with her. She looked at the place - she'd lost some flesh from her arm and elbow, but otherwise it must have just skinned her. Whew. But it meant there was no way she was going to be able to shoot the rifle now, being less accurate with it anyways. She switched to her side-arm and fired a couple shots when she could.

"Blackpaw you still ok?", she shouted, not turning to look.

The cavalry arrived. Two heavily armored SWAT trucks with high-calliber guns and fresher, steadier nerves. The opposing fire ceased quickly. She breathed a sigh of relief.

Officer Down
Sebastian * Puma/Panther * Police
The Puma wrinkled his nose at the cloying scent of blood, trying not to gag as he smelled the gunpowder from his own gun, as well as the assailants. From his vantage point, he could see Naxx lunging up and killing the coyote. His eyes widened, and he fought down the urge to drop his jaw. Holy shit, would he learn to do that? And then another coyote was taken down, making it a bit easier.

His ears twitched as, some time later, after many exchanged bullets, their radio began to crackle. And then, thank God, someone over the radios was calling for SWAT. Feeling relief run over him, he leaned out slightly to fire his gun, aiming for one of the assailants heads, ducking back before he could see if it landed as a bullet landed near him. He had barely leaned forward to shoot again when there was a hot burst of pain in his cheek, and he snarled, drawing back. Blood could be felt dripping down his face, and he took a moment to feel the wound. Thankfully, he had only been grazed, the bullet doing little more than removing some fur and flesh.

His ears twitched at his partner's words, and he called back "Fine!" shortly, leaning out and firing off another shot. Only moments later, SWAT showed up, and he sighed in relief as the assailant's fire stopped.

@Sebastian Blackpaw

It had all started with lunch.

He remembered that part well, a simple stop to grab something to eat so that they could resume their patrol. Naxx had been checking his email on his phone, his partner - Riley had been getting a hot-dog or two from the food truck no more than a hundred feet away. He remembered that much. It was supposed to be simple, it was supposed to be easy. A simple 20 minute break, one of 4 that were allotted to them throughout the course of a 10 hour on-service time.

Riley, his partner, was a good cadet, he had just cleared probation, he was had just earned his first stripe, and was now officially designated as a P-2. He was a border-collie shepherd mix, the outlines of his fur were tipped with white and a body of black that outlined most of his physical features. His eyes were bright and he doned the uniform well. He was young, much younger than Naxx, anyways, and was quite amusing to watch, especially with his repetitive mess-ups on the paper work.

Life had been simple and easy, until Naxx relaxed. That was his ultimate failure. He dropped his guard, he had gotten comfortable with the life he was living, the lack of an incident, or his unwillingness to participate in one due to his desire not to do the paperwork that followed them.

Reality had come with the report of a shotgun blast no more than three feet away from him. A fist full of buck shot and wadding colliding with his vest and tearing through his shirt, his body had been lifted off the ground and slammed rearward into the patrol vehicle where it had cracked the window and send blood splattering to the side of the vehicle. As the pump of the shotgun was beginning to be racked, what shot had missed his vest had embedded itself into his lower gut, red hot embers of burning powder and smoke blowing by his face as his eyes closed tightly, his uniform rippling as he - in the manner of zero gravity, struck the pavement before him with a resounding crack. A single red shotgun cartridge rolling before him as the brass rim of the cartridge caught onto his blood.

He had heard his partner scream, he had heard him cry out for him as he lay there - motionless, his fingers tightening and closing, his body in shock as his ears rang and bled out their holes. His body locked up tight in response to the trauma as his vest struggled to keep together.

He remembered his blood pooling out before him, he remembered thinking for a moment if he was even going to live passed today. His gun had never even left his holster, not one round had been fired, and all around him - gunfire erupted into chaos as the gunman was joined by several other comrades. And that's when the panic started, that's when the massacre began, that's when the war was declared.

He noted the tattoo of the Santa Marina on their forearm, he noted the female figure adorned in a red dress around a white cross. These were no common thugs, this was not a robbery that they had come upon, this was not a chance meeting. These were the cartels that were discussed in the morning's awareness briefing.

He was snapped back to the present, having been lost in short-term memory, his ears then turned, his partner, Riley stood and returned fire just as SWAT had entered the scene, before a round collided with him in the shoulder. With a cry that came out loud, his weapon went flying from his hand as he fell onto his back with a loud thud onto the pavement that was rittled with shell casings and blood.

"Shit...!" Naxx said as he offered a hand to the border collie mix, bringing his back against the engine block of the cruiser that they were using as cover, which was parked along the median of the road.

"You good?" Naxx shouted over the sound of automatic gun fire, keeping his head low, blood pouring onto his partner's chest as he nodded, closed his eyes, and applied pressure to the wound.

"They're using AP rounds..." he thought to himself out-loud as he yanked on the mobile first-aid kit that was doned on his partner's outer-carrier vest, ripping open the packaging and applied the pressure gauze to the epicenter of the wound.

"It's not too serious, try not to get hit anymore." Naxx said as he secured the bandage with the wrap ties under his arm and across his left shoulder, placing the pressure pad underneath the shoulder strap of his outer-carrier vest.

Naxx rose his radio, "3-1-3 to SWAT, be advised, subjects using AP rounds, you copy me?" he said into the radio, turning around as blood continued to drip down his belly and thigh area, his pawed hand a mangled mess as dried blood encrusted into the brown and black fur as he adjusted himself into a crouch.

He synchronized his advance with the SWAT, his weapon grasped with both hands as he rounded the vehicle, getting a visual of the three with the automatic weapons as they began to retreat around a corner, firing at anything that moved, yelling at each other in Spanish, dropping spent magazines with precision and reloading with militaristic precision. They were well trained, communicated well, and took careful planning and tactics.

"Esta la bomba armada?" he heard them shout over their shoulders, "Si! - Vamonos!"

Oh hell St. Marry of Joeseph...

He glanced up at the building that stood before them, "Consulado De Mexico." The reality of dying today had never been more real than it was now, and he had just become aware of what it was that they had walked into.

Naxx rose his firearm, and opened fire just as they were beginning to retreat, emptying his magazine in seconds. Fitzgerald. Saijin's partner had rounded the corner of the alley with the shotgun at the ready, stock shouldered and fired, before a single 7.62 caliber round struck him in the thigh, sending him him sprawling rearward before three more hit him in the chest. The shotgun rose to the air before his finger twitched, yanking on the trigger and sending a shot full of buckshot into the building as he fell with a crash on the pavement, his cry silenced as blood pooled out on the side walk and his eyes faded into nothingness.

Naxx rounded the corner as SWAT advanced, dropping his spent magazine to the pavement and reached down to his belt, "Last mag!" he called out, slapping the 15 round magazine into the pistol grip, he depressed the slide release and allowed the hot steel slide to guide home, stripping a round from the first in line on the magazine and throwing it into the chamber. The machine gun on the truck fired away, before the crunching of metal and steel caught his attention. Sniper fire cracked off from the roof as Naxx looked through the smoke to see heads burst wide as the heavy caliber rounds took out the two shooters, their bodies falling from the roof and meeting the pavement with a sickening crunch.

Down to his last magazine, there wasn't much more he could do, Naxx knew that well enough, he had but 15 rounds left, his .40 caliber handgun hot and slick with his own blood as he struggled to hold it tight, the textured grip digging into his palms as he returned to the engine block of the vehicle.

"Anyone have a count? How many more we got?!" Naxx shouted over his shoulder, he looked at Riley, he was panting heavily, applying pressure to his shoulder as blood oozed between his padded white fingers, the pressure wadding no longer able to contain the mess of blood from his wound.

"Fitzgerald's down..." he looked to the others, "K-I-A".

Saijin could only watch through the chaos and the gun fire, her Glock held tightly with both hands as rounds danced off of the engine block of the patrol car, sparks raining down on them as they took the majority of the fire. The sound of shotgun blasts accompanied by automic rifles causing her ears to ring and everything else to drown out.

Her hand shook, her bladder had released, every nerve and every fiber of her on a razer's edge as she contemplated on what to do. To remain in cover? To return fire? Go to her dad? She wasn't equipped to deal with something like this, her 9mm pistol was far from providing the adequate fire power needed to appease this situation. Located at the alley-way with Fitzgerald, occupying the outside of the fire-exit near the dumpster, Fitzgerald and her moved up, trying to cut off their route of escape, keeping low and moving under what remained of the glass windows on the police car, keeping her right side hugged against the vehicle for supoort as she observed the bunny officer use the less-lethal marked shotgun with a green stock and pump, deploying bean bag rounds in the general direction of the assailants, possibly taking the fire off them momentarily and allowing them to re-position and engage.

She heard the spanish too, and being of Spanish decent, she knew it fluently. There was definitely a bomb in there, and these coyotes were trying to make their escape. She winced, her head snapping over her shoulder as she heard the escape door open and turned around in time to come eye to eye with one of the armed subjects. She could see the flash of his teeth as he slammed her against the wall, her body armor absorbing the impact as she snarled, her ears went back and her teeth went forward as she tried to grab him by the side of the neck, bringing her knee into his gut as he crunched over. Returning her pistol to her holster, she pulled out her baton and snapped it open with a flick of her wrist, bringing the blunt end downward across his back as he dropped to the ground. his gun landed across the pavement she then kicked him across the ribs with her boots, sending him on his back as he winced in pain. Dropping the baton, her hand snapped for the holster and drew the pistol with a single motion, bringing both hands forward as she aimed it downward as he rolled on the ground, swearing in incoherent Spanish.

"Don't YOU MOVE!" She screamed as she stood over him, the coyote slowly but surely raising his hands and spreading his fingers as he began to comply. "Fitz!" she shouted, trying to get his attention as he stood against the wall, shoving shells into the magazine tube of the shotgun, the barrel now smoking as he glanced at her.

"I'll be right there!" he shouted, before he turned, shoving bringing the stock to his shoulder, before a round caught him in the thigh. His scream caused her ears to go wide as she winced, He was thrown off his feet, the shotgun then pointed at her before his finger twitched as three rounds caught him in the chest as a cloud of red vapor flew through his back as he found himself flying and landing on the pavement before the trigger was yanked.

It felt like a punch in the chest, and before Saijin knew it, she had taken a hit from the shotgun right in the chest. Her breath was gone, her sense of control was gone. She dropped to one knee, before looking up at her partner, he was motionless, he was dead.

A single tear found itself welding in her eyes as the Coyote laughed at her. Saijin slapped both hands together as adrenaline surged through her system, tears that wanted to fly would not, her face swollen with adrenaline as her hands swelled. "TURN AROUND, NOW!" she demanded, her voice shaking as she looked up to gaze upon the unmoving figure of her partner. When he was on his belly, Saijin brought her knee into the small of his back, reaching down to her cuff case and restrained him, the clicks of the cuffs resounding in her ears as she secured the weapon that he had been using across her back with the sling that had been attached to it.

"Anyone have a count? How many more we got?" the radio chimmed, Saijin, her hands shaking, thumbed the radio, "One in custody, rear-alley, 3-1-9-2 is down." she called out.

A few hours earlier.

Aislin had normally liked her patrol days to be boring and uneventful. It meant she could go to the club later without developing some sort of migraine from the days events. Tickets, arrests, court summons, all of it was pretty dull on a day to day basis when she was not on call for SWAT. The times she was called to assist as a SWAT officer were probably the most adrenaline fueled events in her lifetime.

Most of those times she was either ramming into doors, assisting with standoffs and negotiations, or like she wouldn't be expecting today - a large scale shoot out with a drug cartel. While she admitted that Consulado De Mexico was a tough nut to crack in terms of shutting them down, she hoped that one day they would all be dealt with and killed in one way or another; most of which eliminated by her own weaponry.

When Aisin was hired into the department, she hardly had any sort of connection with the other officers. It took some time to know them and know her place, but once she found out they were as fucked up as she was, she wasn't worried about fitting in anymore. Since then, she had seen her fair share of calls both good and bad to make her one of the elite officers on the force. At least in her mind anyhow - who cares about anyone else. Well - then there was Naxx.

Present Time

When she got the call of "officer down" over the radio, she hissed. They even called out for SWAT which made it all the more critical that she get there quick. Standing up quickly from the bench she was sitting on while on standy, she rushed to get ready. Aislin had just got done eating lunch when the call came on the radio and Aislin could only think on which officer was hurt. She'd be surprised if it was Naxx, but then again she wouldn't. He was always getting into trouble of some sort, and it seemed on more than one occasion she had to come save him somehow. They had been through a lot and it only seemed natural that it occurred like that.

Aislin rode the SWAT van and dawned her gear as quickly as she could - even with the volley of bullets flying around. "Watch the crossfire!" she shouted in the air. Aislin knew that they would be, but with this much chaos it was a good reminder. Aislin quickly tried to catch up with the happenings from her partners and which officer exactly was down. Her hear sunk when she heard it was Naxx and that he wasn't in too good of shape. Aislin swallowed her worry away for now so that she could focus on the task at hand; stopping whatever shootout was going on and eliminating the threat.

It all seemed like it was happening so fast with all the bullets flying. At this point, it was unclear where the shooting initially started and where it was actually coming from. It would be a long report to write, that was for sure. Aislin expected this block to be shut down for quite a while now. As Aislin cinched up her body armor and cocked her AR-15, she peeked around the corner at the van to figure out what the hell was going on. There were still about six shooters that Aislin knew about, but where they were coming from was still to be determined. With her radio in now, she worked with her partners on support. She listened quietly to the chatter and shouts on the radio to prepare for the next course in action, but she stayed with Ezekiel and the rest of her team until she could get into a better position. When the call about armor piercing rounds went out, she cursed to herself knowing that she could be shot down too.

Aislin followed behind the riot shields and scanned the area as they got closer to where Naxx was. She eyed the other officers taking up their positions to defend themselves; Hopps, Blackpaw, Saijin. Why the rabbit was using a non-lethal shotgun in a situation like this, she didn'[t know. The group dodged in between cars and hid behind the shields which protected them from the bullets. Some ricocheted off the ground into other places, and other bullets hit cars or caused glass to shatter. It was a scary situation that was not for the faint of heart, that was for sure. Aislin often wondered why she was here in the first place. When she saw Naxx again, she was reminded that she was here to protect those she cared about. It fueled her intention to save Naxx all the more.

When they stopped to get Sammi, she looked over to see Naxx and his partner both seriously hurt. Aislin was not yet close enough to Naxx so she couldn't support him quite yet - but she did identify where a shooter was coming from. It was hard to see since so many had been killed or arrested, but it looked to be three left now, with one of them being in custody. One of the stragglers seemed to be running away in the alley directly behind the car Naxx was at.

Another officer, Saijin, followed Naxx around the corner and ran into one of the cartel members. Aislin couldn't watch easily but she overheard on the radio that the suspect was in custody. It meant there was one less shooter than anticipated. How many were left? Aislin watched Naxx get back to the engine block of the car and she ran up behind him. It took almost thirty minutes for Aislin to get to where Naxx was, in between dodging bullets and returning fire, but eventually she had been successful. "Ammo?" she asked as she held out a clip for him. Aislin was emotionless as she took out her rifle and steadied it up on the trunk lid of the car, keeping in mind to stay down. Who else was out there? It was unclear as Aislin stayed down.

"Fine mess you got into this time! What's next after this Naxx?"

Suddenly, shots rang out and a body fell to the ground. Fitzgerald had taken a volley as he tried to draw their fire and it ended up resulting in the loss of his life. Aislin froze for a moment as a cloud of red mist formed around Fitz, a shotgun went off in the air, and the officer crashed to the ground lifeless. Fitz was trying to support Saijin in the arrest when he got shot. Both of them were in the alley where she was about to aim at one of the shooters. A flood of anger and sadness welled through her, but Aislin had to focus. She would not get out alive if she didn't remain focused. Especially with Naxx as hurt as he was.

His death was enough that it would fuck her up for the day. She had yet to see another officer get killed and she would be dammed if she saw Naxx go too. "Dammit..." she cursed to herself as she tried to remain solid in her emotions. It took a lot to get her pissed - but when another person shot and killed her officers? You'd be blessed by God if you landed in cuffs instead of a bullet in your skull.

Sammi bolted when Ezekial provided cover fire. She worked quickly to patch the wounded Detective Gulos, and then his partner.

"You wont die, but this is the best i can do with what we have available."

That was when the KIA came over the radio. The Mongoose's tail fluffed out entirely in anger and she hefted her rifle.

"Captain McHunt, I'll lay down cover fire, if you want to get into a better position. I need to get to get to Lupero and Fitsgerald, which means i need cover to get over there."

She popped her head the top of the current bullet stop, ducking down in time to avoid a burst of fire from at least 2 more rifles.

"I saw one on the left. I'm going for it."

she dint even wait for a confirmation before she popped up and let out a short burst, and popped down. The sound of howling and screaming brought a grim smile to her face.

"Mother fucker."

Everything was going to Hell.

Sebastian took a deep breath, fighting to ignore the sound of gunfire. It was so loud, it was almost painful, and he could hear his ears ringing, and little else.

He waited until there was a lull in the fire, before leaning back out. The Panther took aim, and pressed the trigger, bracing himself against the backfire of the gun.

And that's when everything went wrong.

There was a burst of burning pain on his face, and he snarled, recoiling. Oh, Hell! His ears flattened against his skull, and he bared his fangs, cringing as that pulled at the wounds. There was now a gaping wound on the side of his face, running from his whiskers across his face and up to his ear, the bullet having skimmed him.

As he moved to duck back against the car, one paw coming up to press against the wound, he gasped as the wind was knocked out of him. A bullet slammed into him right next to his shoulder, on his torso next to his armpit. He snarled, and slumped back against the car, glad for the cover. His paw came up to press against the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. "Hell!"
